Katie Walker | Journal Entries: Memory Maps

Sandler Hudson Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Journal Entries: Memory Maps a solo exhibition featuring Greenville (SC) based artist, Katie Walker. The more than 100 works on paper build to reveal a complex depiction not of objective reality, but rather the emotional responses experiences arouse within.

Walker’s mixed media works are a look at her daily commitment to studio practice and an activity she likens to journaling. Employing a variety of materials, Walker’s work offers personal interpretations of the world around the artist.

“All of the works in the show have been created using imagery and spacial relationships from a memory of a particular place... This memory recall is intertwined with swirling information and activity in the form of color, collage, and mark-making that is always changing.”

Katie Walker’s dynamic compositions and palette express meaning and experience and serve as an intimate map to navigate the artist’s practice and perspective.
