Erin D. Garcia JET!

 ERIN D. GARCIA | JET!

Exhibition Dates: September 20 - October 19, 2019

Sandler Hudson Gallery is pleased to announce Erin D. Garcia’s inaugural exhibition, JET! Best known for his colorful installations of floating and overlaying shapes, Garcia resides at the point where human capacity for abstraction intersects with an innate need for specificity. Typically for Garcia, each work is manufactured into a distillation process, intended to be viewed as a series. Subsequently, unfolding systems become more exceedingly present, revealing the artist’s jurisdiction of fixed elements that are constantly subject to change and permutation. It’s the development and alteration of these systems that brings his artistic aim to fruition and advances his stride closer toward a moment of revelation.

Garcia’s JET! serves as an extension of his previous work and its regulations by building incrementally on fundamentals that he has previously established on a consistent basis. Although this collection demonstrates his signature elements cast in brilliant gradients and sensuous textures, JET!  is more of an escalation, transporting the viewing experience into a deeper, more expansive realm than ever before. Garcia asserts his commitment to constraints, now both visually and physically. In true dedication to scale, the artist engineers handmade tools in order to access an unchartered scope, while leaving the efforts of his labor and presence to be felt by his viewers.
