Sandler Hudson Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition, Borderlines, featuring the work of South Carolina-based artist, Katie Walker.

In Borderlines, Katie Walker explores imagery, spatial relationships, and carefully plotted points drawn from memories of places she has visited and the vivid characters who have colored her life. Recently, her work has taken on an expressionistic style of "map-making," capturing layers of personal meaning and influence that continue to shift and evolve. As new information and knowledge intersect with what is already known, she merges the residue of the past with imagined scenarios and the rhythms of her daily life. Through this process, she creates abstract works that reflect the broader tapestry of life and memory, where every stroke and shape on the canvas speaks to the complex interplay between the lived and the remembered.

Katie Walker is an artist based in Greenville, South Carolina, who has exhibited at the Greenville County Museum of Art, the Spartanburg Museum of Art, the Pickens County Museum of Art and History, the Columbia Museum of Art, and the Georgia Museum of Art. Her work was included in the 2005 Florence, Italy, Biennale, where she was an award winner. Walker regularly exhibits in galleries across the Southeast. She has taught at Furman University in Greenville, where she earned her BA in studio art. She holds an MFA from the University of Georgia and studied and taught in the university’s Cortona Study Abroad program in Italy. Her work appeared in New American Paintings, Vol. 40, 2002.
