Amalia Amaki

	My work capitalizes on a long time interest in film and advertising and its impact on self-perception and notions about others. When based upon cultural dynamics, the effect is so complex and yet so automatic that I seized on the numerous implications that lay within. Using the photography of Man Ray as a jumping off point, I continue to explore the implications of the inter-relatedness of ethniticity, beauty, and the suggestive nature of the film-based image.
